Site context

Gottigere Lake is the only public space in the neighbourhood. The site is the tank bund road, which is the key access road to the lake and to the vicinity.

Issues

  • The absence of footpaths and streetlights, and the steep slope on one side, make it very unsafe for pedestrians.

  • There are also several black spots along the road, with residents from areas with inadequate waste collection dumping waste there.

Priority Interventions

  1. Complete development of the footpath on one side of the Gottigere Lake Road with street lights.

  2. Reclaim the green buffer space adjacent to the road as a usable social area for sitting and gathering.

  3. Add tabletop pedestrian crossings and traffic-calming measures near the lake entrances.

  4. Tackle waste dumping by implementing on-site collection or establishing a waste collection system.

To be checked

Check ownership of sloping land. Is it the forest department? Which areas do not have proper waste collection, and are therefore dumping waste?
