Site context
The site is the first- and last-mile connection between Silk Board Metro Station and Madiwala bus stop. There are 2 routes here: one via 36th Main and across the Rajakaluve via the pedestrian overpass. Another is under the silkboard flyover via 3rd cross road onto Hosur Road.
Issues
The pedestrian overpass is in a very unhygienic condition, with garbage blackspots and insufficient lighting. The landing is poorly designed, and the overpass is not accessible to people with physical disabilities.
The underflyover space and the path to Hosur Road are undeveloped and unsafe. The footpath along Hosur Road is very narrow and hazardous to walk on, despite high footfall.
Priority Interventions
Redesign of the pedestrian overpass to make it universally accessible, remove garbage black spots, and add street lights.
Development of the path from the metro station via the underpass to Hosur Road. Integrate nature-based solutions to address flooding.
Complete redevelopment of the footpath along Hosur road to Madiwala bus stop
