Site context
The junction is located at the intersection of 27th Main Road and 7th Main Road; both are key roads that connect Ibluru to HSR Layout and, further, to the Outer Ring Road. As a result, the junction witnesses very heavy through traffic. The junction also includes a major bus stop on 7th Main Road.
Issues
There is no pedestrian crossing infrastructure at the junction, forcing pedestrians to run through speedy vehicular traffic.
The footpath at 7th main to the bus stop is completely obstructed by electric utility structures and a public toilet. The shoulder space is also taken over, along with parked cars and autos. Walkers must wade through oncoming traffic to reach the junction.
The 27th main footpath is absent, and vendors and car parking block the walking area.
Priority Interventions
Redesign of the footpath kerbs and addition of refuge islands to enable easier and safer waiting and crossing of pedestrians.
Complete redevelopment of footpaths along and to the junction, and removal of all encroachment by vendor and shop spill overs.
Shifting of the autostand away from the junction and creation of a no-parking zone.
Installation of CCTV cameras to improve vigilance.
Addition of navigation signage to key roads and destinations
