Priority Interventions
Install a public toilet along the graveyard wall. Proposed locations include: (1) recess near the graveyard gate, (2) street corner.
Redesign the median to include seating, lighting, low-maintenance plants, and safe access for residents. The pilot segment will cover 17th to 18th Cross.
Install a bus shelter at the 18th Cross junction.
Install street lighting along the entire length of the road.
Site context
CMH Road is a major thoroughfare connecting Old Airport Road to Indiranagar. The neighbourhood of Laksmipuram consists of densely packed housing and lacks dedicated spaces for residents to rest and relax. Residents and municipal workers use the area beneath the metro as it is the only location that receives sunlight.
Issues
Lack of social space: Residents have no designated areas for gathering or relaxing. Existing seating beneath the metro at the 18th Cross junction is currently unsafe due to traffic proximity.
Missing amenities: Previously removed bus shelters have not been replaced.
Sanitation concerns: The wall facing the graveyard is a frequent site for public urination and illegal garbage disposal.
