Importance of the site

This area has a cluster of apartment complexes in close proximity (Adarsh Gardens/Adarsh Residency, Vaishnavi Paradise) and standalone homes. The location is at a walkable distance to 2 important transportation hubs i.e the Banashankari junction (metro+bus stop-which is getting a facelift per reports) and the RV road metro station which will be a metro interchange station for the green line and soon to start yellow line. Our apartment is also home to a large number of Infosys guest houses whose employees commute daily to work by bus having to cross this busy intersection.  Residents are a mix of families both old retired senior citizens and young working professional who are socially aware and keen to more actively use public transport as they are in an ideal position to do so. unfortunately due to unsafe pedestrian friendly 1st and last mile connectivity i,e busy traffic intersection , poorly maintained footpaths / non usable traffic plaza) are compelled to use their own vehicles to reach these transport hubs which further increases traffic on the road.  A citizen centric pedestrian friendly approach is what the area now desires considering the present situation and accessibility constraints.

Proposed idea / vision:

As highlighted previously the Banashankari junction is getting an ambitious facelift - all we need is a symmetrical approach carried forward to sangam circle junction down the road(500M) in a more simplistic manner. The focus should be on the traffic island revival to make it a part of the solution to solve the core problem of citizens facing challenge in crossing this busy intersection. As you can in the images uploaded there is a small patch of land on one side of this crossing and the traffic island sits on the other side. We could maybe consider a sloping walkover bridge connecting these 2 points with the patch of land being for ingress and the traffic island for egress. These points can be converted into green spaces (theirs a florist right next to the patch of land) and the walkover bridge could be made to makes it friendly to access by both pedestrians and cyclists. It could be well lit up and will add vibrancy to the overall place at night aswell. The area has seen depletion in green cover over the years due to the metro construction and increase in pollution levels due to increase in road traffic as they city has expanded southwards (kanakapura/rr nagar etc) so these added green cover can only help.
