Importance of the site
There is a vacant piece of government-owned land located just behind the local police station and opposite a temple. The land is currently unused, naturally covered with trees and greenery, and is not being maintained or monitored. Despite its central location, it remains idle and underutilized.I propose that this space be transformed into a simple relaxation and green zone, primarily for the benefit of police personnel who serve tirelessly and often without access to peaceful, restorative environments. Additionally, the space could serve the community during non-operational hours as a clean, quiet corner for reflection or rest, especially given its proximity to a temple.
Proposed idea / vision:
I envision transforming this unused, tree-covered government land—located behind the police station and in front of a temple—into a peaceful, green public space primarily designed for police personnel to rest and rejuvenate, while remaining open to the wider community. With minimal interventions such as benches, waste bins, and basic landscaping, the space can be made functional at almost no cost.
This transformation will promote mental well-being, environmental preservation, and a sense of safety and inclusion by offering a shared space for reflection and relaxation. It will also foster community respect for nature and public service, while serving as a model of how underused urban spaces can be repurposed for collective good.
