This Kaṭṭe explores a contemporary re-interpretation of a traditional kaṭṭe in conjunction with botanical species it is sited under. The form of the kaṭṭe responds to the physical aspects of the tree - its girth, foliage and shading pattern. The triangular geometry lends to the dynamic form and allows for multiple social geometries and ways of inhabitation. A plaque bearing horticultural information forms a part of the composition, thus educating the users about the road-side trees in the garden city of Benglauru. Material palette of Sadarhalli grey granite and IPS oxide / Epoxy flooring is durable and maintenance friendly. This design will provide a safe, hygienic and comfortable public space for the neighborhood residents, shoppers, autorickshaw drivers and commuters.
