Importance of the site
My daily commute falls within a 5 km radius of the given precinct, but navigating it is no small feat. The route—passing through Ranka Colony, B.R. Ambedkar Road, and Kodichikkanahalli Main Road—is routinely plagued by heavy congestion during peak hours. The situation worsens during the rainy season, when roads become chaotic and difficult to traverse. Intersections at major roads turn into bottlenecks, especially as heavy vehicles like buses and trucks frequently pass through this stretch, turning everyday travel into a challenge.
Proposed idea / vision:
The objective is to revitalize the area by implementing a barrier-free traffic network that ensures smarter and more efficient vehicular flow. This includes the identification and development of alternate travel routes to ease congestion and reduce dependency on overburdened corridors. Key arterial roads will be prioritized for regular maintenance to uphold infrastructure quality and safety. Enhancing walkability and facilitating seamless pedestrian movement will be central to the urban design approach, supported by improved crossings, sidewalks, and public spaces. In parallel, resilient monsoon infrastructure will be integrated to mitigate flooding, ensure year-round accessibility, and promote long-term sustainability of the public realm.
