Priority Interventions

  • Ecological Development: Establish a mini urban forest with native trees and pollinator-friendly gardens. Integrate rainwater harvesting systems and permeable paving to improve local groundwater recharge.

  • Social Amenities: Maintain versatile open lawns for activities like yoga and picnics. Incorporate a dedicated children’s play area to cater to the visitors from the nearby skating rink.

  • Safety and Infrastructure: Install solar-powered street lighting and design pathways with clear sightlines.

  • Implement community policing or a volunteer warden system to ensure a secure environment.

Site context

The site is located along 5th Cross Road in a calm, low-rise residential area. It is characterised by its proximity to a BBMP reading room and a popular skating rink in the adjacent park, which attracts hundreds of visitors, making this an appealing destination.

Issues

The primary issue is that the site remains unused and vacant, failing to serve the local community despite its high-potential location.
