There is scope to improve visitor experience with better seating as well as maintaining hygiene. By integrating sustainable waste management and ergonomic rest points, the area can better honour its architectural significance.
Issues
● Despite being a major city attraction, there are no seating spaces to pause, rest, or enjoy views of the landmarks. ● The edge of the High Court parking area facing the street is littered with garbage and is frequently used for public urination, severely affecting cleanliness and the city’s image.
Priority Interventions
The following interventions along Dr B. R. Ambedkar Veedhi enhance the public realm:
●Before the High Court: Create architectural niches within the existing grill work and integrate benches into the green buffer to encourage seating.
●High Court Parking Edge: Install higher fencing to prevent unauthorised access and public urination. This segment involves intensive garbage removal followed by landscape beautification.
●Cubbon Park Connection: Install benches at regular intervals from the parking edge to the park entrance, positioned to face Vidhana Soudha, providing high-quality viewing and rest areas for pedestrians.
