Priority Interventions
Inclusive Infrastructure: Restore play areas with child-safe equipment and soft flooring, install ramps and accessible toilets.
Specialised Zones: Create a senior citizens' area with reflexology paths and a community pavilion for yoga and gatherings.
Ecological Engagement: Develop butterfly or edible gardens to connect users with nature.
Operational Upgrades: Organise vending zones at entries, improve lighting for safety, and conduct volunteer-led deep-cleaning drives to ensure a vibrant, multi-generational public space.
Site context
HBR Layout has several small neighbourhood parks. Two such parks located along the rajakaluve have been identified for intervention under this project. Both parks are partially developed, currently underutilised, and disconnected from the green–blue edge of the rajakaluve.
Issues
The main park has children’s play equipment that is partially broken and unsafe, and the existing seating areas are poorly maintained. The footpaths around the park are broken and littered with garbage, further contributing to underuse. Cars, trucks, and vendors were parked or dumped along the block's edge, visually and physically blocking access to the park, making it uninviting and unsafe.
