Priority Interventions
Transform the neglected 1 km neighborhood road into a beautiful, slow, and walkable community street that promotes active mobility, social interaction, environmental sustainability, and neighbourhood pride. ● Remove legacy waste and identify appropriate waste management solutions ● Convert the road into a "Slow Street" zone (max 20 km/h) with signage, street markings, and traffic calming measures ● Create continuous footpaths, adding landscaping, benches and rest spaces, community garden, public art etc ● Make the public realm universally accessible for all age groups and abilities.
Site context
A 1 km neighborhood road in HBR Layout adjacent to a stormwater drain (rajakaluve) that connects several residential areas.
Issues
The edge along the rajakaluve is underutilized and filled with garbage and debris. A narrow pedestrian bridge feels unsafe. The junction lacks pedestrian infrastructure, and new fencing is blocking public space.
