Priority Interventions
Transform the neglected 1 km neighborhood road into a beautiful, slow, and walkable community street that promotes active mobility, social interaction, environmental sustainability, and neighbourhood pride. Interventions will include:
Removal of legacy waste and identify appropriate waste management solutions.
Conversion of the road into a Slow Street zone (max 20 km/h) with signage, street markings, and traffic calming measures.
Creation of continuous footpaths, adding landscaping, benches and rest spaces, a community garden, public art, etc.
Making the public realm universally accessible for all age groups and abilities.
Site context
A 1 km neighbourhood road in HBR Layout, adjacent to a stormwater drain (rajakaluve) that connects several residential areas.
Issues
The edge along the rajakaluve is underutilised and filled with garbage and debris. A narrow pedestrian bridge feels unsafe. The junction lacks pedestrian infrastructure, and new fencing is blocking public space.
