Priority Interventions
Redesign of the footpath kerbs and addition of refuge islands to enable easier and safer waiting and crossing of pedestrians. Complete redevelopment of footpaths along and to the junction, and removal of all encroachment by vendor and shop spill overs. Shifting of the autostand away from the junction and creation of a no-parking zone. Installation of CCTV cameras to improve vigilance. Addition of navigation signage to key roads and destinations
Site context
The junction at 27th Main Road and 7th Main Road, which sees heavy through-traffic and includes a major bus stop.
Issues
No pedestrian crossing infrastructure exists. The footpath is obstructed by utility structures and a public toilet, while parked vehicles take over the shoulder space. The footpath on 27th Main is absent entirely.
