Priority Interventions
Reclaim the 4-5m-wide buffer space by introducing permeable surfaces, community gardening with composting facilities, informal pause points, and tree pits around existing trees to enhance the pedestrian experience, and by introducing nature-based solutions to mitigate flooding. Removal of old vehicles, commercial parking and garbage black spots
Site context
The site is a 600m stretch of buffer space along the rajakaluve along 16th Main Road, just south of Marenahalli Main Road in a residential area. This is the main road which leads pedestrians and vehicles to the neighbourhood's public square.
Issues
The buffer area is primarily occupied by parking of goods trucks, cabs and some private parking. As a result, the area attracts garbage dumping, creating an eyesore for residents. Another issue is waterlogging near the site and the adjoining roads.
