Priority Interventions
The intervention focuses on streamlining transit and pedestrian flow by leveling the public realm for universal accessibility.
Segregate parking, vending, and no-parking zones through defined edges and integrated NMT infrastructure for buses, cycles, and autos.
Improve visibility and lift access with dedicated drop-off zones and clear signage for transit and heritage sites.
Create seating by expanding the existing space around metro pillars, and beautify with public art & landscaping.
Site context
Halasuru metro station is a key transit hub. The area is surrounded by a diverse population: residents, vendors, temple visitors, and students, and is strongly historically relevant.
Issues
This area is hindered by a critical lack of pedestrian infrastructure, including a complete absence of footpaths, safe crossings, and clear signage.
Unregulated vendor zones and disorganized auto stands, also trigger significant traffic congestion and also lead to poor sanitation and unhygienic conditions across the stretch.
