Site context

The site is a critical segment along the Railway Parallel Road in Benniganahalli, serving as a vital link for residents attempting to access commercial centers on Old Madras Road (OMR). Currently a defunct stretch, it sits at a strategic junction of residential movement and high-speed transit, demanding a transition from a neglected infrastructure edge to a safe, walkable neighborhood corridor.

Issues

●The lack of formal walking infrastructure forces pedestrians to navigate hazardous road conditions, effectively discouraging non-motorized transport. ●Constant illegal garbage dumping and the accumulation of construction rubble have rendered the stretch unhygienic and visually neglected. ●Defunct, open spaces are being occupied by hawkers and unauthorized parking, which further narrows the carriage way and disrupts the overall traffic flow and pedestrian continuity.

Priority Interventions

●Create a pedestrian path along the railway parallel road to provide safe access to commercial zones on OMR. ● Eliminate persistent garbage and rubble to beautify the defunct site ● Remove encroachments to improve traffic flow.
