Priority Interventions

This project redesigns the 12m x 175m stretch into a vibrant, unfenced public commons featuring landscaping, social gathering spaces, and outdoor exercise equipment.

Key features include a new footpath along Terige Bhavana Road, street lighting, and universal accessibility. The project also integrates designated vending zones and a robust waste management system to prevent future encroachment.

Site context

The site comprises 2 land parcels - a 175m x 8m empty buffer area next to Terige Bhavana road, leading to Nagarabhavi kere and a covered stormwater drain (4-5m wide), running alongside the buffer land to the lake Given that the site abuts the Nagarabhavi kere and D.R. Bendre Park. It is imagined as an extension of the two existing public spaces, but as an unfenced space stitching the neighbourhood.

Issues

The unkept land tends to attract garbage, and residents have repeatedly conducted cleanup drives. Another issue to be addressed here is mitigating the level difference relative to the surrounding neighbourhood.
