Priority Interventions
Redesign the 7.5m x 14m under-utilised public space under eastern side of Jaynagar metro station to add:
Sitting and resting areas
Public toilet ○
Landscaping and lighting ○
Ramps for the footpath to enable universal access.
Signage to indicate lift access for the metro and rest zone.
Create hawker stalls or kiosks to draw attention to the space.
The designed space can also connect to the parking area at the rear of the metro
Site context
There is a lot of underutilised space at Jayangar Metro station. The bus / auto bay near Jaynagar metro station is a perpetual urination and litter spot for auto drivers and others, making the space unhygienic and forcing people to walk on the road despite wide footpaths.
Issues
There are no public toilets and rest space for municipal workers, and other groups like gig workers, auto drivers etc.
