ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳನ್ನು ಪುನರುಜ್ಜೀವಿತಗೊಳಿಸುವುದು
Priority Interventions
Removal of vehicles dumped by garages to create walkway for pedestrians, landscaping and seating space.
Explore the re-engineering of the rajakaluve to enable surface water flows from the neighbourhood to the water-bodies in the park.
Parking management for residents and schools.
Redesign the park fence to enable greater visual porosity.
Scale up to look at the Bannerghata road and Christ school road in the north and rethink drainage in the water shed.
Site context
Bounded by the 1st Main tank bund road (south), the northern water-inflow edge, Bannerghatta Road (west), and a slum and playground (east), this site is a vital ecological anchor situated near two local schools.
Issues
Commercial garages and private vehicles have encroached upon the park edge for parking.
Excessively high walls and grills create an imporous, caged environment that lacks visual neighbourhood connection.
Poorly engineered drainage systems direct water away from the park rather than toward it.
The stormwater drain obstructs natural flow from northern streets, necessitating a complete watershed redesign.
