BLR-201

Redesigning the Rajarajeshwari Nagar Junction

Area / Length:

8882 sqm

Main access road:

Mysore Road

Nominee

Jagathi Architects

Budget

₹ 1 - 5 Crore

Priority Interventions

Redesign of the junction to create more pedestrian refuge islands that enable easier and safer crossing. Addition of pedestrian safety infrastructure, including crossings, pedestrian signals, kerb ramps, etc. Installation of navigation and information signage at the junction and the multi-model transit nodes. Complete development of wide and universally accessible footpaths all around the junction.

Site context

A large T-junction at the intersection of Rajarajeshwari Nagar gate and Mysore Road, which includes two transit nodes (metro and bus) and a mall.

Issues

There are no pedestrian crossings or signals, forcing pedestrians to run across fast-moving traffic. Footpaths are extremely narrow, broken, and cannot accommodate the pedestrian flow. There is no navigational information for transit users.
