Priority Interventions
Reclaim the green buffer zones as designed ecological corridors with stormwater-sensitive landscaping under the high-tension lines.
Upgrade the pedestrian and public transit infrastructure to ensure safe, dignified, and inclusive access to bus stops and crossings.
Activate the site edge through well-lit paths, fencing, community artwork, and regular maintenance to build ownership and discourage dumping. Integrate safe pedestrian crossing infrastructure for the junction.
Site context
The site is the 1500m stretch of green buffer space between the Outer Ring Road and the service roads on both sides. Part of the northern buffer falls under a high-tension line, while the southern buffer is just clear land. A key aspect of this site is also the 7th Main Road Junction, which is a key access from the Kalyan Nagar side to the Chele Kere lake.
Issues
Some segments of green buffer areas have been partially landscaped with walking tracks, but are currently in a dilapidated state and littered with garbage. There are also informal pathways through the buffer areas, created to connect the two neighbourhoods on either side to the bus stops on the outer ring road.
