This intervention revitalizes Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Veedhi through three key actions.
First, architectural niches with integrated benches will be created within the High Court’s grillwork to encourage social seating.
Second, higher fencing and landscaping along the parking edge will deter unauthorised access and public urination, supported by intensive garbage removal.
Finally, high-quality benches will be installed at regular intervals near the Cubbon Park connection, providing pedestrians with dedicated rest areas and viewing points.
Collectively, these measures enhance comfort, hygiene, and public engagement.
Site context
The site is Dr Ambedkar Veedhi, a prestigious road flanked by Vidhana Soudha, the High Court, and Cubbon Park. Thousands of visitors frequent this street daily to photograph iconic landmarks.
Issues
Despite being a major city attraction, there are no seating spaces to pause, rest, or enjoy views of the landmarks.
The edge of the High Court parking area facing the street is littered with garbage and is frequently used for public urination, severely affecting cleanliness and the city’s image.
