Fragmented pedestrian paths and unorganised parking also effectively force commuters onto the main carriageway and significantly increase vehicular-pedestrian conflict. Furthermore, the roadside buffers remain underutilised and unsafe for evening use due to a critical lack of lighting and basic public amenities.
