The site is the junction situated at the intersection of Mohankumar Road leading to J P Park and Ms Ramaiah Road. This is a very large junction that experiences heavy vehicular traffic and pedestrian footfalls It also has two major bus stops in the northern intersection and, meets the Dr. Shyamanaprasad Mookerjee Flyover.
Issues
Faint pedestrian crossings and a lack of pedestrian signals and refuge islands result in pedestrians running in between heavy traffic. Thus, making it very unsafe, particularly for children, women, and the elderly, crossing the junction.
Footpaths are also very narrow and often broken at several locations. The space for bus users to wait is inadequate, forcing them to spill onto the road.
Priority Interventions
Widening of footpaths to support sufficient space for waiting for pedestrians and bus users.
Installation of crossings, pedestrian signals, refuge islands and signages
