Importance of the site

Urban rivers like the Vrishabhavathi have become invisible — reduced to drains and cut off from everyday life. But meaningful restoration must begin with restoring our connection. We propose transforming a small river-edge stretch into a “River Connect Zone” — a place where people can pause, observe, and begin to relate to the river again.

Proposed idea / vision:

At the proposed location, we envision a creative public space: installations made from textile waste that regularly flows into the river, storyboards that share forgotten histories, and youth-led sessions in nature journaling, art, storytelling, and singing. Simple acts like these can slowly change how we see rivers — not as drains, but as living ecosystems that can come back to life if we care for them. This could become a model for other neglected river-edge spaces across the city — turning them into places of learning, reflection, and belonging. We understand that your initiative focuses on unused or garbage-filled corners, and while our proposal may not fully fit that criteria, we hope you’ll consider it for the spirit it carries — of inviting people back to the river.
