Importance of the site

The buffer space along the high tension line divides the Poornapragna layout neighbourhood on both sides of Uttarahalli Road. Due to lack of activity with in this buffer, it is deserted and after dark, it feels unsafe. Since the entire stretch is not permeable, it is circuitous to reach the other side of neighbourhood. Intense traffic of BMTC buses from the adjacent depo and lack of pedestrian paths makes it challenging for pedestrians to negotiate this road. To integrate the parts of the neighbourhood, it is important to develop this buffer.

Proposed idea / vision:

This has potential to transform as active, green space bringing in vitality to the neighbourhood. Pedestrian paths and pedestrian and bicycle crossings through the stretch can bring in active movement and bridge the neighbourhood. Walking and cycling tracs can be useful additions to support the activities of the neighbourhood. The edge towards the BMTC Depo can be designed to accommodate some seating areas and can be developed as a node and a good public space because the road networks converge at this point.
